Well I am not much of a royalist but I still watched the wedding and I thought Catherine's Sarah Burton dress was perfect for her, timeless style and very Grace Kelly. For now I thought I would share with you my favourite wedding dress of late. Charlotte Dellal's (I have a slight obsession with her) wedding dress was custom made by Giambattista Valliwhich she apparently wore with leopard print shoes, that's why she's mind kind of girl!
Both Gwen's and Dita's wedding dresses are reportedly going to be featured in the V&A Museum in London in 2013, I will most definitely be making a visit.
Have recently been consuming probably way too much of the below, I love it when drinks come in such traditional bottles, plus they are nice to keep afterwards.
This is my outfit from today, I don't often wear trousers, but when I do they are normally of the baggy variety with a high waist
Rose Apodaca is a recent addition to my list of inspiring people. Rose is a fashion journalist, as well as owning her own store A&R with her partner Andy Griffith. Rose sources undiscovered talent and emerging designers in store as well as on-line. She is currently working on Dita Von Teese's much anticipated beauty book, have a gander at her post on working with Dita on hairstyles here: On Set with Dita Von Teese.
Tomorrow, I think I shall be slicking my hair back and wearing an armful of bangles a la Miss Apodaca. Rose has a lovely blog, and you can follow her on twitter. All images are linked back in the captions.
Watched 'The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec' (2010), and I completely adored it, it has everything I love; fantasy a great heroine, gorgeous clothes, mystery, magic and Paris and it's directed by Luc Besson, so cannot go wrong in my opinion really.
Adèle using the phone in a car
Adèle and her sister, Agathe in their sporting outfits
Adèle, a master of disguise
Looking chic on a camel
Love this outfit
Want a coat like this
I am now currently channelling the Adèle Blanc-Sec look, and have created a treasury on Etsy in homage to the comic book heroine. I think I definitely need to get the scarab necklace, its gorgeous!
Today I have created my own homage to Adèle Blanc-Sec with pieces from my own wardrobe:
Hawk ring from ebay
Bracelet from Gibraltar, which I have had since I was 7
Pinned up my hair
Magical necklace to store potions/perfume
I just saw a mummy!
Lace up booties
Me and Eric, my toy poodle
I perhaps take my love of film further than most, but I love getting lost in magical worlds! Louise Bourgoin, who plays Adèle Blanc-Sec, is perfect in the role, she is charismatic, independent and intelligent. The film features some fantastic actors Mathieu Amalric (James Bond) is unrecognisable as Dieuleveult, playing Adèle's rival. As well as Gilles Lellouche, who plays Inspecteur Albert Caponi. So what you waiting for, go see it now!
Wow the weather is still nice and it's a bank holiday in the UK, this is almost unheard of, you would think I would be making the most of it. But no, I have been crafting away today in doors, as I am in dire need of actioning all the ideas I have. As I am determined to work for myself one day, nothing big I just want to buy an old cinema do it up, screen old films, world cinema and independent films, with a shop to sell my wares and vintage of course, oh and a bakery. So you know I need to start saving up...
1950s pale yellow dress, which is covered in holes and marks but I still wear it. Bought it from a fantastic vintage shop in Totnes, Devon, however the owner must be one of the most miserable shop owners I've ever met, but yeah she did give me free feathers because I spent so much in there, so she couldn't of been that terrible I guess
I do amuse myself, note miscellaneous blank of wood, you never know when you may want to play walk the plank pirate related shenanigans.
Office 1940s style shoes love them so much, and they are so comfortable.
This is my favourite handbag, and not to brag, but I own a vintage Chanel and a Vivienne Westwood, but this 1950s number is still the one I use everyday nearly. And it has vintage newspaper lining at the bottom, how cute?! Hope you are all enjoying the Easter break, I will leave you with Marlene.
From Ariel to Ann Blyth I have always been fascinated with mermaids, when I was eight I used to try and swim with my feet together, you know so I could move elegantly like a mermaid. However, in all honesty I am a pretty terrible swimmer, so I would probably not make a great mermaid, but I do splash a lot so you know, I am half way there. On several occasions I have been known to have giggling fits whilst in water and I seem to sink when this happens. Anyway I digress here are my current mermaid inspirations.
Even though I am still eight at heart, I am slightly more sophisticated with my inspirations, where as I used to wrap bubble wrap around my legs (they look like scales obviously) I now look to wearable fashion to quench my desire to be a mermaid.
