The girl with the overbite

I wish my overbite was appealing as hers, Gene Tierney is one of my many favourite actresses, she had a traumatic life suffering from depression, undergoing shock treatment which destroyed many memories, her autobiography is definitely worth a read, she is very honest about what she went through, in a time when it was still very taboo to discuss such matters. I think her beauty is just breathtaking, Leave Her to Heaven, has to be my favourite film of hers, like many people who love the film, I feel sorry for her character, stupid Danny getting in the way.

  1. Gene Turney is one of my favorite all time actresses - she was utterly beautiful and could really act too. Leave her to heaven is a marvelous film isn't it, I agree with you about Danny - he was a bit of a sap.

  2. Yeah many people back in the day said she couldn't act, I think that tends to happen when a woman is beautiful they cannot see past their looks and realise they can act, not just look pretty. Yeah definitely a sap hah!

  3. It's so insane to me how frequently shock treatments were given as a cure for depression. My dad received shock treatments too when he was a teenager. Boy, Gene Tierney is a looker! I haven't seen any of her films, but I shall be sure to watch Leave Her to Heaven on your recommendation.

  4. Great pictures! I'd no idea she had an overbite... she's so gorgeous I guess she just outshines it. I've loved her since I saw "Laura", which will always remain of my favorite noirs.

  8. Crystal: I know my grandma received them in the 60s, very scary. Definitely watch it, the colours are so gorgeous in it as is she.

Dakota: Yeah it isn't very obvious but when you spot it, it just makes her all the cuter. Laura is a fantastic film. Did you know the painting in Laura was actually a blown up photo of Gene then it was painted over? love little facts like that hah, am a geek.

Miss Marie: Oh glad I could introduce you, be sure to see Leave her to heaven, whirlpool and Laura.

House of Pinheiro: My pleasure, she was so gorgeous.

Jo: She could look gorgeous in anything really, oh her hair in the first pic has to be my favourite style.

  9. I don't know much about her (shall have to find her autobiography for future reading) but I think she's gorgeous. Laura is one of my all-time favourite films. I love Leave Her to Heaven, as well. In fact, I think I may go watch a Gene film, right now...

  12. I just think Gene Tierney was the best. I'll watch any movie she made. It always makes me feel better to see other pale gals with overbites. I had my "corrected" through orthodontia, but it didn't go away!
