Sam Style: Dressing like a boy

As you may have already gathered I take a lot of my inspiration from film, and today I took it upon myself to dress like Sam from Benny & Joon , a film that is very suited to me, being something of a misfit myself. Other male film icons of mine being Vincent Price and Jacques Tati  are always an influence. I do enjoy dressing like a boy sometimes, it makes me confident in a different way that pretty dresses do. Plus brogues and stripey socks are like my bestest favourite combination.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets style inspiration from the fellas ;-)

  4. You look very, very cool! There is something about a woman dressing like a man, I'm not sure I can explain it...perhaps it's the mixture of the vunerability of a woman and the masculine power that suits give off. x

  5. Lady Cherry: Thanks, I am anything but though. Yeah I completely agree, e.g. Marlene Dietrich! x

  6. I LOVE this outfit, it really suits you. Have you been watching Boardwalk empire? One of my favourite looks is the lady nightclub host who wears a tux and top hat, very Marlene. We have to do a 'borrowed from the boy' display theme at work and you my dear will now be my inspiration... :) xxx

  8. I am quite fond of both those shoes and the corner of the metal bedstead that I see! I want one just like that and am having an impossible time finding one!

  9. I loved your blog. I found it because I was searching Paris where I lived for one year and miss.
I thought nobody knew this movie. It was the first time I watched Johnny Deep and didn't know he was "Johnny Deep".
I admired his work at this movie.
You are very nice as a Tom boy.
    :)
