Haworth

Yesterday me and my lovely went to Haworth, the home of the Bronte sisters. It is a lovely village surrounded by lush countryside. Unfortunately, yesterday the weather was pretty grim so we only wandered round the shops, think we will be going back soon to go on the moors and see the museum.

The main high street is so cute, and is filled with pretty cafĂ©'s, boutique shops and vintage.

This was an amazing shop, Rose & Co Apothecary, it was filled with old fashioned sweets, jams, toiletries, chutneys, and soaps.

I got a Picturegoer magazine from Yorkshire Relics, an issue from 1947, I am a big fan of  a Lizabeth Scott so had to get it, there was a big stack of them I wish I could of bought them all.

I also purchased a Humphrey Bogart biography, and one of my favourite Enid Blyton books The Folk of the Faraway Tree.

I want to live in the magic faraway tree

Most of the vintage shops were rather expensive, there was one that left me breathless, which was The Souk, it was rather strange though because nearly every garment was covered in plastic, so it was very difficult to make out what the items looked like and how much they were. There were so many beautiful hats, I need to go back when I have more pennies. What did you do this weekend?

With the Bronte sister's in mind I am excited to see the latest adaptation of Jane Eyre.

  1. Oh, yes!!! I visited Haworth in 1997. As a Victorian literature english grad student, I was over the moon to get to see the Bronte house, etc. Sort of dreary and gothic, especially that graveyard, but so beautiful as well!

  9. What a great place to visit! And the grim weather only made it more Bronte-esque, I'm sure. And a bit more authentically Yorkshire for that matter! I love Enid Blyton too, by the way, though I was always more of a Famous Five person. And The Children of Willow Farm was another good one!

  10. Kelly: How amazing would it be to live in a tree. Yeah the shop was beautiful and the assistants had gorgeous little uniforms, wish there was more like them x

Emily: It was a lovely place to go to, yeah the weather was rather fitting in retrospect. I didn't read those books as a child, perhaps now is the time, as I am a big kid.
