A Study in Scarlet

Well after the visit to the Hollywood Costume exhibition we headed to our favourite Mexican joint, Wahaca and a pit stop at Laduree, erm bubblegum flavoured macaroon pour moi?! Merci beaucoup! We strolled on over to Baker Street to see the dwellings of none other than Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson. It is rather amusing queuing up to see a fictitious character's abode but we thought what the devil, why not? I must say I have been inspired for our house by the décor that was within.

Spot the kraken, I have an obsession with them.

An iconic image at Baker Street underground, we knew we were heading in the right direction.

By jove another clue!

The inside of the ridiculously over priced souvenir shop, plastic pipes for £25?

New 1930s velvet coat, it did not keep me warm, at all. Soz about the frizzy hair and crap photo, Ben is incapable of taking flattering snaps, and I am not photogenic, whatever trevor.

Me in the middle when I have let my roots go crazy.

 I loved this suite!

Alas Robert Downey Jnr was not waiting for me in any of these rooms. We did make our way to the Anesthesia Musuem but discovered it's shut on Saturdays, drat. I love visiting London, need to plan my next trip soon.

  2. Lovely pictures, thanks for sharing! I'm a massive Sherlock Holmes fan but have yet to make a trip to the museum myself - I know some other people who have been and said it was great but what a shame the souvenirs are so vastly overpriced! Also, shame about the lack of RDJ.

  3. I too am a huge Sherlock Holmes fan but even though I've lived in London for the past thirteen years, I have never visited the museum...the shame!
I'd love to live in a house like that, I can just see myself kicking back in an old chesterfield smoking a pipe, surrounded by lush Victorian opulence.
Great photos, looks like you had a fab day out...x

  6. Oh my goodness. Paul and I went to the Sherlock Holmes museum in October--stood in line with all the French tourists and everything. I have to say that for Victorian housing we preferred the Carlyle House in Chelsea (run by the National Trust). It was really amazing and it was so quiet. We were the only people there.

Haven't had a Ladurée macaron since our visit to Paris in 2006. It's been too long!

    1. I didn't know you'd been! The National Trust one sounds much more up my street. Oh my you need to get some soon! xxx

    2. Paul was so hilarious. When we got to the Carlyle House, he said, "This is a real Victorian House, not one that people just decorated to be Victorian. We could have done that!" Love him to bits--no way would he have known anything about Victorian houses before meeting me. I love the National Trust (reminds me I need to renew my membership). I DO need a macaron soon. Hopefully my next excursion to London or Paris will be soon.

  9. I visited London about ten years ago and I remember eating at a restaurant called "The Sherlock Holmes." And it was filled with American tourists. Wasn't quite the British experience I was hoping for. :)
