Today me and my lovely made our first attempt at making macaroons. They went surprisingly well, considering we used a home made piping device (plastic bag, got real messy). We then had a stab at making salted caramel filling, but misread the instructions. It just ended up runny so I have been smothering them and quickly devouring before it drips everywhere. Have any of you had any new adventures with baking recently?
That looks pretty yummy, I've got a book at home called I <3 Macarons that has all the yummiest recipes and methods, and how to avoid fails, I haven't made any yet but that post of yours is looking pretty inspiring :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Erica (thanks for following too by the way). That sounds like a handy book to have, I just used a recipe online but think I need to invest in a book.x
ReplyDeleteLooks good! I must try to make macarons too, I made merengue a couple of weeks ago. It's seriously my favourite candy, it's soooo sweet and yummy!
ReplyDeleteI've got a book on making them but I still haven't given it a try! I can only bake when I'm in the right mood and it doesn't happen often. ;] And, strangely enough, I prefer baking when it's warm and sunny and not rainy and cold like it is, now.

ReplyDeleteAndi: I have to be in the right mood to bake, think sunshine makes you want to be creative. You must use your book hah x
House of Pinheiro: I know I felt very dainty and chic eating them hah. I will be sure to have a look at your blog.
The Nyanzi report: thanks!
Baroness: Thank you. That sounds scrumptious! x
They look amazing! I'm impressed. Macaroons are just one of those things I have never thought to attempt because they just seem too delicate an art. Plus, I've only really recently gotten into them. I was always slightly scared off by the colours - don't get me wrong, I love colours but they just looked like they'd be way too sickly sweet. But then a friend bought me some from Ladurée and it was the beginning of a love affair...
ReplyDeleteMiss Marie: First thanks for following! I must admit I was on edge whilst making them, especially the folding of the egg whites with the ground almond and sugar but they worked like a dream (for a first attempt). Oh yes Ladurée macaroons are heavenly so delicate but so tasty.
