Kiss of the Damned

As if I couldn't adore Josephine de la Baume anymore, now she is starring in a seductively wicked vampire film. I want her hair ta

Stoker

I watched Hitchcock tonight, which I thoroughly recommend, absolutely stunning performances from Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren, and they were perfectly complimented by a supporting cast which included Scarlett Johansson, Toni Colette and Michael Stuhlbarg - whom I love, especially his eyebrows. If your a Hitch fan definitely watch it, it is completely different to the BBC's The Girl. Alma is portrayed as Hitch's backbone who is integral to his films, not a bitter and twisted wife who is left to the sideline like in The Girl.

However back to the point,  during the trailers I discovered my next eagerly anticipated film, Stoker, it is directed by Chan-wook Park, one of my favourite directors. a Famous for The Vengeance trilogies, Oldboy and I'm A Cyborg But That's Okay. It certainly helps that I am slightly in love with Mia Waiskowska, her characters clothes are making my little heart flutter. Not to mention the use of Death in Vegas Dirge, always makes me feel like a David Lynch femme fatale in Hollywood. What do you think of the trailer?

Socially Awkward aka the time I met Richard Ayoade

I am not an overly confident person, it's one of the reasons that I started my blog, some kind of self assurance that people may find me interesting/pretty from edited angles.  Thus I tend to be drawn to people and characters that are odd, self effacing or just downright shy.  The delightful Richard Ayoade directed a brilliant film Submarine in 2011 and I seized the chance to attend a Q&A at the Cornerhouse with him. My palms were sweating and heart was pounding whilst I listened to other people ask questions, until I plucked up the courage to grab/steal the mic and say 'can I answer a question' aha thankfully you cannot hear that. But you can see how fricking awkward I am, and please note my boyfriend dying of embarrassment next to me.

If you have not already seen Submarine you should, that's if you like odd ball parents who believe their son has mental issues, mystics and Wales then please do watch. The book Submarine by Joe Dunthorne is definitely worth reading as well. Also, it has a beautiful soundtrack by Alex Turner.

I totally asked the best question! And he named The Apartment as one of his favourite films, which is mine too. We are like so meant to be, on the way out he was wearing a brown leather satchel and a duffel coat, I fell in love.

Plus Moss, Ayoade's character in IT Crowd, has the same opinion as I do on sports, particularly football. The deal breaking question I asked my boyfriend on our first date; 'Do you like football?' he lied and said no, I have since forgiven him.

If I were a Chorus Girl

Aah so this is my haul from last Sundays Vintage Village fair, I did good eh. The black slinky ensemble £20 is a two piece, dress and jacket with a darling little belt. I'd seen it the month before but didn't think it would fit, however I was heckled into trying it on by my friend and by jove it fit. The lady from the stall, Lost but Not Forgotten, got rather emotional to see her old favourite frock from 1973 on me, I love clothes with a history and I will look after it all the more.

The beaded little dress £5 I can't quite work out, it doesn't look like its been shortened so I have decided it's a chorus girl's costume. Which obviously I need, I have already been doing my version of tap dancing on the kitchen floor whilst wearing it...
The charm bracelet is so heavy that I like to say it will stop me from doing work, but it doesn't. The little hat sits on my head perfectly and was only £5. The Libeled Lady Print was a snip at £3. And I am a sucker for a tourist scarf, this London one was just £3, a girl can never have too many scarves. Have you found any gems recently?

The Brothers Bloom

Rian Johnson is one of my favourite directors, ever since I saw Brick. Now The Brother Bloom, appeals to me on so many levels, it happens to have four of my favourite actors in it; Brody, Ruffalo, Weisz and Kikuchi, and my favourite city, Prague and there is a lot of cape and hat wearing, what else do I need?

Restless (2011)

Restless is Gus Van Sant's latest film, I watched the trailer the other day and it looks right up my street; dreamy, romantic and odd. I fell for Mia Wasikowska in Alice in Wonderland, and Henry Hopper looks like a very promising actor, if he is anything like his father I am sure he will be.

The film focuses on a terminally ill Annabel who falls for Enoch, a boy who has a penchant for attending strangers funeral's , who has an imaginary friend in the form of a Japanese kamikaze pilot from WWII. The clothing for the film look adorable, think I need to pair my leopard print coat with red gloves now.

Restless is out on 21st October in the UK and 16th September in the USA. All images found via google.
