The Wallace Collection

We paid a visit to the Wallace Collection when we stayed in London last month, and boy did it make my little heart flutter, opulent furniture far as the eye could see, and it's free entry. We also visited the Soane and The Hunterian museums, I absolutely adored Sir John Soane's converted home, it was a treasure trove.

Would like to add this suite to our house!

Couple of snaps from the V&A before Ben informed me I wasn't supposed to be taking pictures in this part! I'm a sucker for Asian vintage fashion.

Pretty Things

Hi there lovelies well I'm another year older and still feel fifteen, mentally anyway! The trip to London was lovely we walked until my feet bled, that was mostly due to inappropriate shoes though. Below is some finds and birthday gifts I received.

The blue velvet dress with lilies is from Ben via Etsy and the blue 1930's dress I got from the most wonderful stall at Spitalfields, unfortunately I cannot fit it over my head, I have ridiculously broad shoulders which I never allow for when I am buying clothes, weep. The light green house coat I got from Alfies Market, when I walked in I nearly squealed with delight especially at Tin Tin Collectables, then I got confused why there was long codes on the price tags, oh no they were the prices. £225 for a fox stole? what the, anywho I got the housecoat for £25 as there is a seam which is loose, I am going to where it as a dress as that's how I roll!

This sorry looking dress I got from Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair, it was £10 there is a large rip in the middle but I still had to get it the beading is just breathtaking. Plus its the only thing I could afford I don't know what people's idea of affordable is at these fairs, but averaging at £45 for a dress that ain't cheap.

Nancy Beaton postcard from the Victoria and Albert Museum, I just love it there.

My lovely sister got me some Von Follies by Dita Von Teese underwear and one of her sumptuous red Art Deco lipsticks. And finally have the beautiful Pretty Things book by my style icon Liz Goldwyn

Last but by no means least Ben got me a signed Anna May Wong picture, I have long adored Anna I did a lot of research on her at uni, wish I had written my thesis on her like I planned too!

Bygone Times

Today me and Benjamin went to Bygone Times in Chorley an Antiques Centre that my friend at work had recommended. I expected to find a few plates, but not such treasures! The centre is jam packed full of collectables, curios, wicker baskets, plants, crockery, jewellery not to mention a penny arcade! Definitely worth a visit if you live in the North West. We got a lovely gold ornate fire guard to cover up the rather too modern for our liking fire. The lovely lion I just had to get he is just so beautiful, he reminds me of Aslan from Narnia, actually went back in to get him as couldn't get him out my head.

Got this lovely art deco style laundry basket as well.

Oh and Inca was not to be left out she's got her own wicker carrier, she's sussing out.

These chairs are from eBay but just had to share, they are so comfortable and go well with our pink sofa.

Please excuse the scabby carpet, need to see whether we can rip it up and sort out the floorboards! What did you do this weekend, we went and watched Iron Man 3, really enjoyed it I am a major Downey Jr geek.

No place like home

So our house is coming together slowly but surely, there's still lots that we want to do but we are taking our time as don't want to rush into redecorating and then change our minds! But thought you would like to see what it's like so far! Do not have curtains anywhere so lots of dodgy blinds that were left and metres of lace wrapped around ugly curtain poles, so if anyone stumbles across some dusty pink velvet curtains give me a shout!
