Birthday Carrion

Well it's a Happy Birthday to me and Marilyn Monroe, boy do the years fly by now. It's my second birthday in our own home I am so grown up now! I still feel 15, anyway today has mostly been old movies excess amounts of pasta, chocolates, bucks fizz and flowers, I haven't eaten the flowers.

This dress I bought last year from Spitalfields she's in a rather sorry state and I thought I would never get to wear her as the bust was so narrow, but my Aunt noticed that the bust had been stitched up oh yes, I unpicked it and low and behold it fits aslong as I don't breathe too hard aha.

And this is by far my favourite gift my very own piece of taxidermy he is a Carrion Crow and I love him, I don't know what to call him yet, Edgar, Vincent, Ichabod - any suggestions welcome. I have been spoilt rotten, I will show you my gifts later on in the week!

Inca isn't quite pleased with our new addition but hopefully she won't maul him!
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend

What a novelty

Many a vintage lover always gets giddy at the prospect of a novelty print dress. Well I don't really know if this dress falls into that category, but boy is it dream. I won it on eBay 9 bids in, accidentally, I might add in the loo's at work, bidding on eBay alleviate's the stress of being in work hah. It's about two sizes too big, but I like that in a vintage dress, because it's less likely I will rip it being the clumsy fool I am.
I'd messed with my hair so much this day, but ended up with my Wallis Simpson style do, I feel an affiliation towards Wallis; I'm by no stretch a stereotypically pretty girl but I do try and dress my best, most of the time!

Inca wondering why I am being such a poseur.

New cushions from Zara, I love anything insect, bug related!

Much love from your eBay addicted trollop.

Pretty Things

Hi there lovelies well I'm another year older and still feel fifteen, mentally anyway! The trip to London was lovely we walked until my feet bled, that was mostly due to inappropriate shoes though. Below is some finds and birthday gifts I received.

The blue velvet dress with lilies is from Ben via Etsy and the blue 1930's dress I got from the most wonderful stall at Spitalfields, unfortunately I cannot fit it over my head, I have ridiculously broad shoulders which I never allow for when I am buying clothes, weep. The light green house coat I got from Alfies Market, when I walked in I nearly squealed with delight especially at Tin Tin Collectables, then I got confused why there was long codes on the price tags, oh no they were the prices. £225 for a fox stole? what the, anywho I got the housecoat for £25 as there is a seam which is loose, I am going to where it as a dress as that's how I roll!

This sorry looking dress I got from Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair, it was £10 there is a large rip in the middle but I still had to get it the beading is just breathtaking. Plus its the only thing I could afford I don't know what people's idea of affordable is at these fairs, but averaging at £45 for a dress that ain't cheap.

Nancy Beaton postcard from the Victoria and Albert Museum, I just love it there.

My lovely sister got me some Von Follies by Dita Von Teese underwear and one of her sumptuous red Art Deco lipsticks. And finally have the beautiful Pretty Things book by my style icon Liz Goldwyn.

Last but by no means least Ben got me a signed Anna May Wong picture, I have long adored Anna I did a lot of research on her at uni, wish I had written my thesis on her like I planned too!

Time spent with cats is never wasted

On Saturday I wore a dress a lovely generous friend at work gave me, I love anything with dramatic sleeves, makes me feel very elegant and witchy. I did a faux bob which being a fickle sod stops me from reaching for the scissors, for now. Me and Inca are in the spare room, I want to get rid of the big bed and replace it with a little daybed, don't think my sisters will be too impressed as they would have no where to sleep when they stay, uumm family or more space for my shoes, decisions are hard...Also have some gorgeous dark bird print wallpaper eyed up for in here.

Saturday consisted of charity shop hunting,  (hit the jackpot will share later this week) an ice cream parlour and Inca cuddles was rather idyllic! What did you do at the weekend?

I need to put some more holes in the wall for the rest of my hats!
Yeah I am kissing my hats, that's okay right?

Spot Inca on the top of the wardrobe!

Had to share my jewels I got for £2.98 on Saturday!

I dress for the image dahling

Howdy there, how are you on this freezing evening? I wanted to share with you my fabulously wafty trousers, it's so hard to find decent high waisted trousers but found this pair on eBay originally from H&M trend. They are a delight to wear, although my friend at work did tell me I looked like a waitress, I was trying to channel Marlene or Vivien but whatever I sang the Human League for the rest of the day.

Hope you're excited for the Easter break, I have my niece and sister staying over so I will be knackered!

Style Icon: Vivien Leigh

That tiny nose those ridiculously beautifully animated eyebrows, this talented woman has always fascinated me. She had a difficult life but her beauty and charm does not fade. I watched Waterloo Road for the first time a few weeks ago, after discovering thanks to Helga and Lauren that the director, Sidney Gilliat hailed from my new home town, so you see less than six degrees of separation between me and Viv.
