Do you know how hard it is to find a floor lamp? Real hard, like really hard, whilst perusing eBay I found the most wonderful reproduction Victorian lampshades. I need to sell my soul or just save it to buy one, but then I need a base. This year I want to figure out how to do basic electrical wiring, please do hold me to this as it will be really useful.

Twas the night before Hallow's Eve

Hello ghouls and goils, as some of you maybe fully aware I adore Halloween I have done since I read the Worst Witch books when I was little. Any excuse for more escapism and I am there. With the house being upside down with improvements I have only recently put up our decorations, I plan to leave them up till Guy Fawkes!

Natasha Khan - Garden's Heart

Two of my favourite girls Natasha Khan and Saoirse Ronan. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend. Me and Ben are taking my dad to see Bill Bailey tonight, very excited. Side note - anyone know how to make curtains?! I keep trying to find some on eBay to no avail so going to make a pair, any tips would be appreciated.

The Tentacled Hallway

Last weekend we finally got round to adding some more personal touches to the house. We'd had two of the mirrors for a good few weeks, but were lacking a drill. We now have a drill, much to Ben's dismay as I am demanding we put holes here there and everywhere. 

This mirror we got from eBay, its so ruddy pretty. I can finally put on my lippy in the bedroom instead of hovering of the hard to reach mirror in the bathroom!

My favourite accessory in the whole house, I absolutely love it. It reminds me of the amazing Adam Wallacavage's work, but without the price available on request tag. I am saving it up one day for one of his chandeliers.

Another mirror we got last Saturday I just love the shape of it, this was only £15. Also finally got some chairs, four £5 each. I am going to sand them all down and paint them blue with a dash of gold, as I am gaudy like that. 

Finally got one of my favourite Caitlin Shearer prints up.

This is hung up in the kitchen, think Vincent Price would be chuffed being the foodie he was.

Housepiration: Florence Welch

Just had to share the beautiful Florence Welch's home, tis right up my street. Was going to paint our living room that bright turquoise colour, leaning to a darker ink grey blue colour now though!

Making a house a home

Well how the devil are you lovelies? , I have been rather busy trying to transform our lovely new home into our own little haven. The house is a Victorian terrace, built in 1885, it's had an extension on the back so we have an indoor loo you will be most pleased to know!

Anywho, so far so good, apart from the sofa supposedly from the 1850s not fitting through the door, the delivery guy and my man insisted it would not fit and we would have to sell it on, as it had been stored in a showroom and apparently lots of people had been asking to buy it!

Now growing up I always helped my Mum with anything to do with the house - getting ball and claw baths up stairs that bug burly men say will not fit, so I told the two gents to carry it round to the back of the house and inspected the bolts, which we then proceeded to loosen with the help with some WD40! And by jove it came apart and when perfectly back together, so in short I am so stubborn I do not take no for an answer.

So until I get chance to take some proper photos here's some instagram snaps!

This is our second sofa, every house needs two right? It is a gorgeous dusty pink and incredibly comfortable.

Got the man his own gentlemanly cushion from timberps, fricking love his stuff!

These dresses are currently acting as curtains, I am saving up for some dusty pink velvet or maybe some raw silk to make curtains.

Charity shop cherub lamp only cost £5! 

This is the terrible hearth in the back room - excuse the bubble wrap, the cast iron fire place I've had for months it was £10 from eBay and will eventually be screwed into the wall, the chandelier was another chartiy shop bargain at £3.99. I'm accumulating as many chandeliers as possible, then I can get someone to fit them, do not fancy rewiring the vintage ones!

The garden comes with an ivy archway! I've already planted a climbing rose next to is as I have visions of roses all cascading over it.

You know I love a lobster, this is a plate tray from matalan of all places!

I have so much to do but will be catching up on all your gorgeous goings on.

And so to bed

It's proving rather difficult locating a king size vintage bed, but here are a select few that I like at the moment. I have added a couple of ridiculous ones, i.e. The Oyster beds! If any of you stumble across any nice ones available to the UK and for a reasonable amount do let me know! Which is your favourite?
